To Horst from  Austria,
The black thing is a canister which traps vapors from the expansion
tank/fuel tank via the fuel hose back to the rear of the car. The other
hose is to the intake manifold where the valve allows the intake
manifold to suck the vapors from the canister to be burned. I think this
valve gets toggled when the car is first started for a limited amount of
time. 

On the flywheel, if you already have used the 8.4 Kg flywheel, you may
want to stay with that. The 2.3 liter is primarily shorter stroke from
the 2.5, and depending on your gearing, you may find the lighter
flywheel not as "snappy" on starts.
